- Agonist
- A ligand that binds to a receptor and promotes receptor activation.
- Antagonist
- A ligand that binds to a receptor and reduces or blocks activation by an agonist.
- Ligand
- A molecule that binds to a biological target such as a receptor.
- Receptor
- A biological macromolecule that recognizes ligands and can initiate or modify signaling.
- Pathway
- A connected sequence or network of molecular events. Diagram arrows may represent direct or indirect steps.
- Second Messenger
- An intracellular signal generated or released after receptor activation, such as cAMP or cGMP.
- Pharmacokinetics
- The study of how an intervention is absorbed, distributed, metabolized and eliminated.
- Chondrocyte
- A specialized cartilage cell responsible for producing and maintaining cartilage matrix.
- Osteoblast
- A bone-forming cell that synthesizes osteoid and participates in mineralization.
- Evidence Scope
- The experimental context supporting a relationship, such as human, animal, in-vitro or mechanistic evidence.
